The origin of the unusual landforms of Baer?s mounds on the Near-Caspian lowland is not well understood. One of the possible approaches to the understanding of natural history of the region is searching of similar regions. In the many papers the problem of mounds origin is revised but with not of review of geomorphological analogues in the World. Some author states that are not exist of similar landforms anywhere else. The topography characterize by the sets of parallel ridges and hollows / valleys. Range of length of the ridges is 0.5-3 km, average height is 7-10 m, and width is 150-200 m. The clear periodical pattern of the topography allows using landform?s spectral analysis in this task. We developed the algorithm of such analysis in the R. The algorithm allows computing the seven parameters: maximum of the waves magnitudes, the importance of given share of waves, the general direction of heights fluctuation, the severity of this direction, frequencies of the biggest wave by the orthogonal directions (W-E and S-N) and the general wavelength.
For the Baer?s mounds territories the values of spectral characteristics of landforms are unique. The maximum magnitude for mound?s territory is about 10 m, and on the around located territories is 1-2 m only. Importance of the main harmonic waves is 0.6 and 0.25 on the averages. The most frequent values of the wavelengths on the mound?s site are 700-1500 m, and on the ambient area this parameters are 1500-2500 m and rises with large window size. All this parameters together are spectral fingerprint of these rare landforms. On the SRTM data we started the search of the similar topography. The first results allow saying about existing of similar mounds on the other continents. Used test site ? territory of Iran and other neighbor countries. |
