In the recent years, the climate changes have determined the increase of the frequency of flood, and concurrently, negative effects of these weather phenomena were amplified by other factors (the deforestation, needs of the hydro technical works, etc.).
Atmospheric precipitation contributes to formation of superficial runoff, or accumulates in the snow in the winter, sometimes participating during melting to form the maximum runoff. The consequences of this rainfall can be serious in terms of erosion and soil washing of nutrients, as well as in the aspect of slope modeling, through intense drilling processes, landslides and excess moisture. Due to an extraordinary flood (with a flood occurrence probability less than 100 years as volume) the transport capacity of the Timis river floodplains was exceeded due to the fact that the defence dykes were designed to a flood occurrence probability of 20 years.
The flood produced in Banat area caused among other things, the failure defense dikes. The most important effect of the impact of embankments on the leakage is the fading of floods.
