Due to the relatively different conditions of small and large water supply companies functioning, there are significant differences in the reaction, progress and consequences of the crisis situations. The specificity of small company requires an individual approach in the area of crisis management, for instance due to limited financial and technical resources. Admittedly, small water companies are particularly exposed to the negative consequences of a possible crisis, but from a large part they show greater flexibility in solving problems. In this papier, the problem of managing a crisis situation will be analyzed on the example of a small water supply company, which had to face the situation caused by the identification of a radioactive element - radon in dinking water source. Radon is dissolved in groundwater and can be transported from the source, with water, into the building. Indoors, when water is exposed to air, radon is released and can concentrate significantly. Meanwhile, exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.
