A salt stratified Lake Shira has been the subject of extensive research because of its central role in the existence of the Khakassia resort area. The previous research was mainly aimed at water quality issues. The studies of the physical dynamics of Lake Shira relevant to the present work include the general observation of currents on the basis of the field experiments in 2011-2014. Velocity measurements were carried out using Doppler Current Profilers with frequency 600 kHz and 1200 kHz in the bottom track mode in 2012 and at several permanent stations in other years. Temperature measurements were performed using distributed temperature sensors at several stations. In the field observations, internal waves were detected. Three-dimensional primitive equation numerical model GETM is applied to simulate hydrophysical processes in Lake Shira. The model is hydrostatic and Boussinesq. The measured temperature and salinity distribution is taken as the initial data for computations. Computations with time constant wind and the initial horizontally homogeneous and vertically stratified density illustrate the dependence of three dimensional current on the wind strength and direction. The calculations with the variable wind speed show that the termination of the wind leads to the appearance of the internal waves.
