Due to the last years effects of climate changings upon surface water flow, but also due to alterations in running the complex water arrangements schemes in order to satisfy various updated needs, it happens that more and more low-level water reservoirs, especially in the hilly and plainly areas, would call for a study regarding their conversion from non-permanent to permanent storages. It is also true that there might be some cases of storages accomplished as permanent which recently tend to work seasonal, but in these cases, besides proper running and maintenance rules, no structural measures would be necessary. In this respect, the present paper comes with a study case to develop the required structural measures for converting a specific non-permanent water reservoir ? Radovan Valley on B?r?gui Stream, Dolj County, south of Romania ? into a storage that can safely work under load even for full time. Initially (about the middle of the previous century) accomplished with the aim of delaying seasonal high waters and so to protect the downstream farm land, since nowadays the stream shows a less seldom flow, the reservoir can and should be employed as permanent reservoir (even of variable level) with an extended use in agricultural purpose. The storage of about two and a half hectares is retained by an earth-fill dam with no special sealing element, with a maximum high of 6m and a length of 124m at the top, originally endowed only with a reduced capacity ?monk? type discharger. Under the new circumstances specifically represented by water flows of 17.8cm/s (5%) and 32.9cm/s (1%) as supplied by the Romanian Water Administration (manager of the studied structure), we came to propose the required dam rehabilitation measures and new hydraulic appurtenant (top and bottom dischargers, water energy dissipater).
