Through this study and researches carried out in this paper, it was attempted to highlight the need for the re-equipment of the treatment station in a town with 6000 inhabitants due to the high exploitation costs, the lack of a constant discharge that satisfies the local water requirements and the quality of the drinking water currently distributed fully meet the applicable drinking law. This article presents also the exploitation optimization (from the energy point of view) of a drinking water treatment plant, based on up-to-date information on the new technologies that have emerged with the economic and social development of Romania. In the field of water treatment a series of new installations, which are superior in quality terms to those known until present and treated in the specialized works, have appeared. Taking into account the current situation, two viable scenarios were proposed for the re-equipment of the treatment plant, covering the water demand, high water quality and low operating costs. Analyzing the proposed scenarios, the second scenario was both highly technologically and economically efficient.
