Allocation of electricity exchanges between bidding zones represents one of the major challenges of European Electricity Market. Initially, it was an ATC capacity basedallocation mechanism for electricity markets. Currently, a powerflow based allocation method it is intended to be implemented. Starting from the premise to more efficiently use the transmission networks, the authors addressed the issue of transmission capacity and their related transmission costs allocation from theperspective of zonal approach. Authors have used a large dimension real power system as case study. Interesting results are obtained in case of transmission cost allocation to consumers, using actual transmissiontariffs establishing by Romanian TSO.
