After 1990, when Romania changed its political regime, many changes registered in the economic field. The new economic system had to experience the new form of transition from a Centralized to the Capitalism new one. The forestry field had been affected too, and it should adapt to the new conditions of the economic market demand. In the new economic conditions, it should adapt the offer with the demand. Taking into account the natural conditions, the tradition of wood processing and the predominance of the forest resources, Suceava County is the best example to promote the sustainable development of local communities by forestry. In this article the authors present, in a chronological evolution, the forest activities in Suceava County, Romania (planing of wood, logging, sawmilling, carpentry and joinery) and its perspectives, based on a complex and detailed database, at 4 digit and local levels. The methodology used in the paper uses new geographical and statistical analyses (ArcGIS and RStudio Softwares). The obtained result presents a comparative view between the past, based on a centralized economic system to present, based on the market economy and could recommend some future trends for the local and central authorities in the forestry economic field.
