This work is devoted to the synthesis and study of catalytic properties of mono- (Pd, Au) and bimetallic (Au-Pd) polymer-based catalysts of alkynol hydrogenation. Selective hydrogenation of alkynol C5 (2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol) was studied over Pd, Au and Au-Pd catalysts supported on hypercrosslinked polystyrene of MN100 type bearing amino-groups. Synthesized Au/MN100 catalyst was shown to be promising for triple bond hydrogenation: more than 96% selectivity with respect to 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol at 95% of the substrate conversion was achieved. Modification of Au-containing catalyst with Pd was shown to allow increasing the catalytic activity; however the decrease in selectivity to ca. 94% at 95% of the substrate conversion was found. Synthesized catalysts were characterized by the transmission electron microscopy method, which revealed multimodal particle size distribution for bimetallic catalyst with the relatively small particles of about 3 nm in diameter corresponding to Pd and particles with the sizes up to ca. 40 nm corresponding to Au.
