Miscanthus sp. is a perennial grass cultivated in the European Union with multiple uses. It can be used as a commercial energy crop or as a resource for easy construction materials and isolation. It can also be used as a source of CO2 capture and restraint. Miscanthus is a plant which demand low needs for fertilization, adapting easily to less fertile soils. In this way it was taken into study the behavior of this species on a sandy soil, poorly fertile from Southern Romania, under the influence of some doses of nitrogen and included three variants: 0; 50 and 100 kg N/ha. Some morphological characters were analyzed, such as: plant height, number of stems/plant and dry matter content. The results showed that the applied doses of fertilization had a favorable impact on the investigated characteristics, especially in the second year. Based on the obtained results it can appreciate that Miscanthus species represents a solution of utilize the sandy lands, low fertile and obtaining considerable amounts of biomass, in spite of the facts that the precipitations level were quite low.
