The work deals with promising trends in the formation of medically social institutions depending on the accounting of factors in architectural design. The methodology for determining the functional planning structure of the type of buildings studied is based on the aggregate accounting of 4 factor groups, three are basic: natural-objective, subjective-technical, subjective-cultural and the fourth is the complex group.
All round use of the foundations for socially specialized institutions will allow a systematic departure from the averaged approach when calculating the necessary types of institutions for servicing the whole population. In the long run, for the effective support of specific population groups, planned the targeted design method.
The criterion of expert assessment of the quality of the spatial environment of medical and social institutions is suggested to consider the degree of its conformity with the ten principles of architectural gerontology: 1) complexity; 2) general accessibility; 3) clarity; 4) safety; 5) power optimization; 6) ergonomics; 7) spatial adaptability; 8) engineering technical flexibility; 9) environmental climatic compliance; 10) inspiration.
