Nowadays, the best solution of radioactive waste management seems to be its deposition in deep repositories. However, construction of these repositories brings new issue for civil engineers. The most important one is elimination or inhabitation of radionuclide release in the environment. Therefore, new kinds of building materials have to be developed. This article is focused on improvement of the most utilized and the most common material -concrete. The main idea of this study was to improved radionuclides sorption ability ofconcrete by adding appropriate raw-material with good sorption into the mixture. Severalsorption admixtures were studied and their applicability was evaluated through the viewof physical properties of designed concrete. Specifically, bentonite, zeolite and ceramicpowder were used both as a cement replacement and as a mixture admixture. Achievedresults proved good applicability of all studied materials. However, in the case ofbentonite, with best sorption ability, it shows its suitability only as an admixture. On theother hand, zeolite and ceramic powder application seems to be suitable also as asupplementary cementitious material.
