|
|
Thermal treatment of solid waste, carried out in a rotary kiln, is a complex process most commonly used for selected types of waste. These wastes are a very diverse group, among which hazardous wastes are most often mentioned. The process is subject to specific legal and technical conditions, which was described in the work. An important aspect of the work of a waste incineration plant is the preparation of waste for the thermal process, thanks to which it is possible to identify risks and optimize the process, which was indicated in this study. The paper also presents the results of tests to which representative samples of waste were subjected. The research was aimed at determining their elemental composition and fuel properties. Based on the data obtained from the conducted tests, it can be concluded that selected hazardous waste fractions have a high calorific value. A simplified scheme of energy balance of waste combustion process in the rotary kiln was proposed. Also the environmental and energy analysis of the process was performed, and optimization options were identified.
