The article is devoted to study of the issues regarding legal regulation of climate protection in Ukraine. The national legislation in the field of climate protection is analyzed and directions of its further development are determined. It is established that the problem of climate protection is a complex and common one for all mankind, that requires effective and progressive response and necessitates the improvement of national legislation in this field. Such legal category as a climate emergency is considered as one that may be an effective element in combating climate change. It is proved that climate relations are becoming more and more urgent, that fosters further development of their proper legal regulation. While focusing on the climate change risks, the authors support the position that Ukraine's climate law shall be differentiated for comprehensive regulation of the relevant relations, aimed primarily at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The respective legal provisions should be based on the international legal regulation of these relations and improve the quality of national legislation in this field, without any conflicting norms. General and special doctrinal legal methods of scientific knowledge constitute methodological basis of the study. In particular, the legal regulation of climate protection at the national level has been analyzed be means of structural-functional method.
