A professional aviation meteorological service has been established in the territory of
the Slovak Republic, the stations of which are unevenly distributed and do not cover the whole territory of Slovakia for information purposes. The addition of meteorological stations, whether mobile or installed at general aviation airports, would largely eliminate the occurrence of such "gray zones" without information coverage. Inexpensive meteorological stations installed at general aviation airports will help to solve the meteorological security problems of this type of airport. Mobile meteorological stations installed on unspecified means of transport will help solve the problem of meteorological monitoring of flight corridors and critical navigation points of importance for the aviation component of the Integrated Rescue System while helping to raise awareness of other aviation participants in general aviation conditions. The article is focused on description and comparison of selected technical means for visibility measurement and identification of suitable means for detection of visibility within the design of alternative aviation meteorological network in Slovakia. The identification, analysis, and evaluation of technical and financial parameters of selected means will enable the selection and verification of the future deployment of alternative weather stations, with the potential to eliminate the practical problems of meteorological security of general aviation airports and Integrated Rescue System components. |
