The constructive solutions proposed for the realization of constructions must take into account the existing situation on site and the way of manifesting of as many factors that can influence the functionality of the building as possible.
When functional deficiencies occur during the construction operation, they must be located immediately, the causal factors must be identified sooner rather than later and measures must be taken to eliminate their effects.
The activity of building monitoring is aimed at monitoring the integrity of buildings and immediate observation of any disturbances, in order to ensure functionality under our safety conditions and durability of the constructions for the entire duration of the planned operation.
By processing the data collected ,,in situ?, through the method of geometric precision leveling in this particular case, information is obtained on the nature and extent of deformations and displacements that may occur. The information obtained is used to develop forecasts regarding the evolution of the displacements, using statistical programs. The larger the number of sets of observed data on site, the closer the forecasting solution is to the actual behavior.
The following paper presents the case of an industrial construction with a metallic structure, built (in several stages) on a land that in the past represented the secondary course of a river. Following the behavior of the building in time, the values of the vertical displacements (settlements) were established through multiple observation cycles performed on the observation marks and also in points of the floor. The evolution of the value of the subsidence for the marks mounted on the pillars of the resistance structure revealed a dependence of their size on factors that have not been properly quantified through preliminary studies.
