The issue of rational land use management, especially regarding agricultural land, has always been an important. The most difficult in this aspect is to ensure simultaneously: 1)the systematization of information on the quantitative and qualitative characteristicsof agricultural lands, 2) the monitoring their rational use, including the issues oftargeted land use, compliance with the current land legislation, 3) the timely conductenvironmental protection, crop rotation, etc. The use of GIS and remote sensing datacan significantly increase the effectiveness of this process at the local level (the territoryof the base village council, the united territorial community).
The purpose of this article is to highlight the results of our research on the implementation of GIS to organization of rational use agricultural land in the village council both theoretical and practical aspects. The main directions of applying GIS are: 1)cartographic visualization of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of lands, 2)maintaining databases of the village council?s land fund. At the same time, the mainways of practical implementation applying GIS include GIS-mapping of the study areaand the creation of specialized GIS applications for this area. A multi-scale GIS map"Problems of land use in the territory of Pishnenka village council" is one of practicalresults of our research. This map illustrates the localization of spots (areas) where somekinds of irrational land use were occur, namely - the spread of adverse natural andanthropogenic processes on agricultural land.
On the whole, applying GIS for the rational land use will significantly increase the organization of this process through: 1) systematization and cartographic visualization land?s data characteristics, 2) monitoring the spread of irrational land use, 3) providing of basic data for scientific justification of the necessary environmental measures, which should be must be implemented to this area.
