The purpose of research is to study the joint influence of climatic and biological factors on materials in the mixing zone of river and seawaters in the mouth area of the Don River. In December 2018, studies began on the dynamics of settling of fouling organisms on experimental plates (aluminum alloys of grades AMg6 and D16 and carbon steels of grades 30HGSA and St3) in full-scale climatic tests in the mixing zone of river and seawaters at two stations (St.1 & St.2) in the mouth area of the Don River. The control experiment was investigated the deposition of organisms on neutral material (Plexiglas). The hydrochemical conditions of the Don delta in the period from December to March were determining by the reduced river runoff characteristic of the winter dry season and the inflow of saline waters of the Taganrog Bay during surges. In the period from April to June, the influence of spring floods was noting, contributing to a slight decrease in water salinity. When studying the formation of fouling communities on the experimental plates, the growth of quantitative characteristics from December to April was noting for microalgae. Then their decrease is observing. Throughout the entire period, diatoms dominated among microgrowths. For macrofouling, quantitative indicators gradually increase from December to June. In most samples, abundance and biomass were higher at Station 2. According to the results of 3 months of testing, the highest corrosion rate of samples of 30HGSA and St3 steels was obtaining at the Station 1, and the highest corrosion rate at samples of D16 and AMg6 alloys was obtaining at the Station 2. After 6 months of testing, the highest corrosion rate was obtaining on all experimental plates tested at gauging Station 2.
