Jurisprudence and international cooperation in the field of pollution of international and regional watercourses have registered over time a rapid evolution if we refer to the documents issued by international and regional bodies that against the background of environmental disasters have come together and developed a series of tools legal and international vocation aimed at preventing and limiting the pollution of water resources.
At intra-Community level, in order to prevent and limit the pollution of watercourses, the European Union has over time had a number of concerns, embodied in programs and regulations, such as: Framework Directive - water - 2000/60/EEC of the European Parliament and of the Council, which established a new approach to water resources management, but which also established an adequate standard for monitoring and controlling water pollution. Although over time these regulations have proven effective, by enacting rules as fundamental principles for this area, they have failed to prevent and limit the effects of water pollution, so European leaders have encouraged cooperation between states, based on granting funding to European programs, within research topics, such as the European project with the acronym: SIMONA, part of the Transnational Danube Program, carried out by the Geological Institute of Romania, which has the role to develop measurements and evaluations of sediment quality for management Danube commune, for transnational cooperation. |
