Anthropogenic activities disrupt hydrological regime (e.g. lake water level, river flow), and water quality changes due to pollution and affect ecosystems by disrupting the cycles of substances and water cycle. The composition of natural surface waters can be altered for a many reasons, for instance climatic, geographic as well as anthropogenic. Agriculture depends on a use of fertilizers, a use of pesticides, and a transport which turn agricultural land into a nonpoint source of surface water pollution. The agglomerations with centralised and decentralised wastewater management systems around of water bodies are second largest source of pollution after agriculture.
The aim of the study is to determine the extent to which the proximity of agricultural land to water bodies affects water quality compared to wastewater pollution.
In order to determine the effect of proximity of agricultural land and wastewater management systems to water quality of surface water body, water samples were collected from three sampling points.
Water samples were collected every second week between May 1, 2017 and October 1, 2017. In total, 72 water samples were collected. ORP, pH, DO, EC, TDS, SAL, NH4, NH3, NO3, CDOM, R-OIL were determined in water samples by using AP-7000 ? Long-term deployment multi-parameter Aquaprobe.
The results show the anthropogenic impact on water quality, and the ammonia (NH4+) concentration in all water samples exceeds the allowable limit value for ammonia in freshwater to ensure optimal conditions for fish.
