The paper presents the results of petromagnetic studies of Lake Sabakty (South Ural, Russia) and their paleoclimatic interpretation. Lakes are an element of modern and ancient landscape. The climatic conditions, environmental features, hydrological and hydrochemical regime are the main factors to determine the features of sedimentation in lakes. It is shown that magnetic parameters can be used for paleoclimatic reconstructions. Particularly informative is the division into para-, ferro-, superparamagnetic magnetic components. This makes it possible to better determine the conditions of sedimentation and climate at this time (input of material into the sedimentation basin, changes in bioproductivity). Comparison of the data with the Blitt-Sernandez climate scheme made it possible to distinguish climatic zones and confirm that the changes in the paramagnetic component follow this sequence.
