The physical and chemical properties of fine sock filter dusts have been studied. It has been demonstrated that a part of the titanium is bound in hard-to-open anosovite that can be enclosed in a shell of amorphous silicon dioxide. Anosovite can be attributed to the phase that is radiographically characterized as the system Fe = Mn - TiO. It is noted that some of the anosovite particles are in a shell of silicon and zinc oxides, and a part is in a shell of silicon, zinc, and lead oxides. The silicate base of the electric melting dust of ilmenite concentrates can be destructed by the so-called alkaline desiliconization method that involves leaching the dust in sodium hydroxide solutions. With this approach, silicates should dissolve, while silicon goes into an alkaline solution in the form of soluble sodium silicate – Na2SiO3, and titanium must remain in the insoluble residue. The diffraction pattern shows almost complete amorphization of the leaching product. The main phase is reliably determined - solid solution Fe2O3·TiO2. Presumably titanium dioxide TiO2 and iron oxide Fe2O3. It can be seen from the nature of the presented dependences that silicon is most completely transformed into the solution - 77.7%. It is due to the good solubility of sodium silicate in alkaline solutions. The optimal leaching parameters for electric melting dust of ilmenite concentrate with sodium alkali have been determined: concentration of NaOH - 110-115 g/dm3; S:L - 1:5; temperature - 80-90 °?; duration - 90-120 minutes.
