The seismic surveys, carried out in various stages, highlighted two domes, placed on the eastern flank of the outpost of the Eastern Carpathians, in the Pralea - Focsani Depression. According to the Bouguer and filtered gravimetric images, the two domes (Fitionesti - Trotusanu and Movilita) are placed approximately 12 km east of the axis of the outpost, on a single major gravimetric maximum.
But, while the south-eastern dome (Movilita) determines an important local gravimetric maximum (+6 mgal. On the residual gravimetric image), the dome placed immediately west of Trotusanu (NE Fitionesti) has a relative minimum of +2 mgal compared to adjacent values of +3 mgal. The seismic structural images led to the results for the landmarks: top Pontian (1100 m for the Fitionesti-Trotusanu structure and 1400 m for the Movilita structure) and top Meotian (1750 m for the Fitionesti-Trotusanu structure and 2000 m for the Movilita structure). An interpretation criterion refers to the association of gravimetric minimums with the existence of gas domes in the Transylvanian basin. After integrating the horizontal gradient vectors of gravitational attraction, the effect of the regional gradient was eliminated and a residual minimum focused on the known dome was obtained from the drilling works. after calculating the respective gravitational effect, it was found that this source represented only 50% of the measured anomaly. Then, it was realized that the other half of the intensity of the measured minimum gravimetric anomaly is determined by the density contrast between the gas-saturated sands in the center of the dome and the water-saturated sands in the adjacent synclines. This criterion of interpretation was verified in all cases encountered in the Transylvanian basin. Andesitic arenitic epiclastites of Kersonian-Meotian age, cause magnetic anomalies on all folded or compacted structures, or faults, etc., which affect them. Therefore, even in the absence of seismic prospecting, the minimum gravimetric anomalies associated with magnetic anomalies can reflect, with very high chances of success, gas domes. |
