Arkhangelsk Oblast is a region of The Russian Federation with the most developed forest industry. Here, it used advanced timber harvesting and sawmilling technologies. Arkhangelsk Oblast has a large territory. The area of the region is 330103 km2. The population density is low and amounts approx. 1.91 people per square kilometer. At the same time, about 80% is the urban population. The remaining 20% of the population lives in areas remote from the regional center. Due to a number of circumstances, the infrastructure of these areas is not well developed. One of the problems is the structure of local energy imperfection. There is a fairly large number of human settlements where outdated heat supply systems or stove heating of residential buildings are used. In such areas it is advisable to build new local boiler houses.
Frequently, in these regions the logging activities are actively carried out and in this process a lot of logging waste is formed such as branches, twigs, tops, small and broken trees. All of this logging waste can be used.
One of alternatives of using felling wood waste is their usage as a raw material for fuel wood briquette production.
Fuel wood briquettes are a new environmentally friendly type of fuel. They have a high calorific value, low ash content and practically don't leave soot.
In this article the technological processes of felling wood residue collection and production of fuel wood briquettes are considered, an assessment of the need for heat supply sources in bioenergy resources is given, and logistic delivery schemes are drawn up based on example of Krasnoborsk district of Arkhangelsk Oblast.
