In the Arkhangelsk Region of the Russian Federation, timber industry enterprises in the logistics of transporting round timber use various types of transport: road, rail, water (barges, timber transport units). Large timber processing facilities of the region are mainly located in the city of Arkhangelsk, which is located at the mouth of the Northern Dvina River. In recent years, water transport has been increasingly used to transport raw materials (round timber) from logging sites to processing plants. For the conditions of the Arkhangelsk region, it has been proven that raft timber rafting is economically feasible for transportation distances of more than 150 km. The technology of fastening the rafts arriving at the roadstead of wood processing enterprises implies driving pile channel supports. Due to their location (proximity to the White Sea), the supports are naturally dismantled in the winter-spring period. This is due to tidal currents. Fluctuation of water levels during this period of time reaches 1 meter per day. As a result, timber industry enterprises are forced to carry out annual driving of pile bushes, which, according to the authors, is not economically feasible. It is necessary either to change the technology of securing timber transport units, or to increase the holding force of the pile channel supports. These proposals will reduce the costs of enterprises for the annual installation of pile channel supports.
In the article, the authors propose a new design of the pile retaining support, describe the methodology for conducting empirical studies to determine the supporting force of the support, and also present the results of experimental studies on the support model, analyze the mathematical relationships for determining the holding force of the pile channel support model obtained using the method of classical experiment and by the method of full factorial designs, an analysis of the influence of the depth of penetration and the angle of pulling on the holding force of the support model was made.
