The creation of public spaces is currently quite conditioned by the impact of the idea of sustainable mobility and efforts to improve the environment in urban spaces. On the one hand, there are ideas and thoughts for improving public spaces, on the other hand, outdated legislation prevents these ideas from being sufficiently implemented. One of the most important elements for changing the division of transport work in urban conditions and thus improving the perception and appearance of public spaces is to increase interest in urban public transport. In this work, we focused on the point elements of urban public transport, namely stops. At the bus stops, residents spend time waiting for public transport lines and are significantly affected by the surrounding environment. The legislation in force in Slovakia, which deals with the design of stops, does not specify the minimum distances for the location of stops from the intersection. On the one hand, too close a distance negatively affects the speed of traffic flow in terms of traffic flow and at the same time terms of waiting comfort are negatively affected due to increased noise from the intersection, especially at light-controlled intersections, where traffic intensity reaches the upper limit of road capacity. The aim of the work is to analyze the current state of distances of stops from intersections depending on the functional category of the local road and the noise level measured at the specified distances from the intersection. The results can be taken into account when designing the location of public transport stops.
