The article outlines the practical steps and security requirements for carrying out the destruction of an industrial chimney on a platform housing an oil refinery that is close to critical structures and equipment. The chimney is 150 meters tall and is built out of an interior chimney composed of refractory brick masonry and an exterior tubular structure of reinforced concrete. A risk assessment was conducted with reference to seismic wave, air shock wave, noise, dust, and the amount of shock produced by the contact of chimney building with the soil to determine the potential secondary impacts caused by the blasting operations. Due to protection and safety measures, the demolition project was successfully completed, and no unanticipated incidents were noted. Additionally, the observed seismic wave values caused by the chimney's collision with the ground were not harmful because they were lower than the values predicted in the risk assessment.
