Abstract

Within twelve months, comprehensive studies were conducted on the effect of full-scale climatic tests on the properties of 30HGSA steel’s samples were carried out with full immersion in water at the mouth of the Don River (the basin of the Sea of Azov) at two stations (Station 1 & Station 2). The water area where the experiment was carried out is characterized by a complex combination of fresh, slightly saline and brackish waters, which affects the structure of communities of aquatic organisms. The article shows the features of the formation of micro- and macro-fouling communities on the test plates one, three, six, nine and twelve months after the start of the experiment. Throughout the observation period, the formation of communities and the quantitative dynamics of microalgae on experimental plates were associated with the dominance of diatoms. Among the zooperiphyton, ciliates predominated. For macro-fouling organisms, sharp jump in the abundance and biomass was noted on the samples, the exposure period of which was nine months. A change in the dominant species was recorded: after six months of exposure on the experimental plates, bryozoans and hydroids prevailed in abundance, after nine months – Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas, 1771). When tested in water for 30HGSA samples, the decrease in the surface hardness of samples was 6.5% in the first 3 months of exposure (at both stations), and within twelve months in increased to 7.6 %. According to the results of determining the composition of corrosion products over twelve months, all tested samples are dominated by surface oxidation products (oxygen, iron), ions included in the composition of water, as well as elements of organic origin.
