Abstract

Submitted paper summarizes the existing knowledge and experience of the survey works and groundwater monitoring in the Slatinice waste dump. In the area of interest there are several hydrogeological collectors with different hydraulic parameters. Especially there are collectors of quaternary sediments, burned clays, weathered volcanic rocks and saturated contact layer between the dump and its subsoil. From the year 2013 an intensive hydrogeological survey is being carried out in the Slatinice waste dump and its surroundings. The aim of this survey is to specify the groundwater flow regime and to ensure a reduction of the piezometric groundwater level in the collectors encountered. During the exploration work, dozens of monitoring wells were fitted into the collectors. These boreholes are distributed throughout the entire area, but most of them are concentrated in the northeastern and eastern parts of the Slatinice waste dump, under the Ressl hill. Most monitoring wells were fitted with continuous groundwater level sensors. The results of the previous monitoring revealed new facts about the groundwater flow regime in the area of interest. These results will help to more accurately locate and equip future pumping wells to reduce the piezometric groundwater level.
