Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the attractiveness of the forests coasts of the Cheboksary Reservoir on Volga River of the Cheboksary urban district in Chuvashya region (Russia). As the main natural and recreational characteristics, two criteria were chosen: the attractiveness of the relief and forest landscapes. The results of the study showed that the Right Bank of the Cheboksary reservoir has a high natural and recreational potential. The work revealed the possibility of using the attractiveness of the landscapes of the Cheboksary reservoir for recreation of the population on the banks of a water body of the river Volga. Highlighted landscapes are recommended for inclusion in the planning strategy of a rational territorial development of an urban district. At the same time, a high degree of attractiveness can negatively affect the state of ecosystems, and therefore it is necessary to determine the degree of anthropogenic load and help and to identify the most promising areas for the development of nature-oriented tourism.
