Abstract

Having a surface of more than 17000 ha, Caransebe? Experimental Basis, of National Institute for Research and Development for Forestry, is the biggest experimental basis from Romania having in their experimental and administration areas, forests from plain to mountains, between 200 and 1600 meters altitude. Having good condition for vegetation of most important European forest species, Caransebe? Experimental Basis is an important managed area, where silver lime can found good condition of vegetation and where altitudinal limit of these species can be observed and analyzed. Current paper aims to analyze distribution of silver lime on the most important experimental basis from Romania, through the analysis of management plans and forest maps of our experimental basis, using G.I.S. analysis, itinerary observations and bibliographical research. Analyzing the materials above mentioned, were determined the management units where silver lime is present. As results were realized maps of silver lime distribution on experimental basis, distribution reporting to altitude and correlation between altitude and percent of participation of lime trees on forest composition.
