THERMAL REGIME ANALYSIS IN AREAS WITH HYDROCARBON POTENTIAL
Abstract
The scientific interest of evaluating the thermal regime of various areas has come to the fore with a more complete understanding that all major processes inside the Earth are related to thermal events and that all physical properties of rocks, as a basis for observed geophysical phenomena, are more or less dependent on temperature. The characterization of the thermal regime is followed by the basic elements: temperature and geothermal gradient, thermal conductivity and geothermal flow. The quantitative study of geothermal phenomena began with temperature measurements performed in tunnels, ore wells and boreholes. Through these measurements it was highlighted in addition to the increase in temperature with depth and the fact that this increase differs from one area to another. Thus, the notions of geothermal stage and its inverse, the geothermal gradient were defined, notions that proved to be very useful in geothermal research carried out on a regional scale. This article analyzes the thermal efficiency of the deposits in Romania and the possibility of modeling the estimated thermal parameters in order to interpret the thermal regime in areas with hydrocarbon potential.
