Abstract

Coastal areas around the world are constantly subjected to pressure on human activities. The environment suffers transformations from the anthropogenic activities, transformations that most often have the effect the degradation of the environmental factors. Coastal areas are often described as areas of potential conflict between the stakeholders and mechanisms such as integrated the coastal zone management or, more specifically, marine spatial planning are designed to achieve the sustainable management in this area. However, the application of these mechanisms is difficult, often due to the erroneous identification of presumption factors. This paper aims to identify the type of the economic pressure exerted on the natural factors. We took as an example the Eforie area, which is a combination of the natural protected areas with relevant anthropic economic activities. The Eforie area is located in the metropolitan area of Constanta, situated at the Black Sea coast, and during the summer the most significant pressure is represented by the tourists. However, the Eforie area is bordered by the environmental protection areas, of which probably the most important is the Protected Area Techirghiol Lake.
