SYNERGIC REMOTE SENSING DATA ROUTINES FOR THE VALIDATION OF THE HYDRODYNAMIC MODEL-S RESULTS, APPLIED TOWARDS THE ROMANIAN MARITIME PORTS- SAFE OPERATIONS
Abstract
The paper focuses on a validation approach of numerical modeling applications used in the study of wave and current propagation within adjacent areas of maritime/coastal ports, using satellite remote sensing data against in-situ data and model results? data. An advantage of using a forecast numerical model is its ability to allow an analysis within a relatively short time, but approaching numerically in a simple manner the different coastal hydrodynamic processes, without an appropriate validation it can give errors and partial results of an unrealistic model. Through an appropriate analysis of the main marine hydrodynamic parameters observable by satellites can be validated the principal modelled processes related to the evolution of the local and regional wave and coastal currents climate, such as the wave transformation, the storm surges associated to the extreme events? regime and the induced longitudinal and transversal sediment transport. The present work includes a complex approach on the practice of different types of data, synergic combined for the validation of coastal wave/currents patterns and coastal geomorphology, in areas where certain atypical phenomena are particularly hazardous for the coastal navigation - the area of the Danube mouths and the auxiliary areas in vicinity of maritime ports.
