Abstract

In this paper were realized some researches concerning the grinding process of plates used by the sintering process DMLS. This plates are used in Direct Metal Laser Sintering process like support necessary for the powder deposing and for the final pieces realized by sintered process. The material used in DMLS process necessary for dental crowns manufacturing is a Co-Cr alloy. Co-Cr alloy is a super stainless steel with good mechanical and corrosion resistance. The material used for plates is a Fe-15%Cr martensitic stainless steel, used in medicine, grace of mechanical, chemical and corrosion properties. During the sintering process, the plates used as support for the supply and construction of sintered pieces by metallic powders, withstand high temperatures between 1600oC пїЅ 3000oC and therefore must be made of stainless steel with good mechanical properties and corrosion. After every use, the plate needs to be grinding to remove remaining parts of melted supports on the surface of the plate. The quality of grinding process and removing of remaining parts of melted supports influence the DMLS sintering process and respective the precision dental crowns. For grinding process was realized using a machine building type RPO 320x1000. The SEM analysis of these chips obtains after sintering process DMLS determined the form of chips and EDAX analysis present the chemical composition of hard stainless steel.
