HYDRAULIC STRUCTURE INFLUENCE ON A MOUNTAIN RIVER CASE STUDY
Abstract
The paper presents a 1D numerical modeling of the water flow on River пїЅAlbпїЅ, the village of Coroie?ti пїЅ S?la?ul de Sus in Hunedoara County, Romania, aiming to establish the influence of a hydraulic structure built on a left side branch, on the main river channel. The purpose for the hydraulic structure towards a trout fish farm, designed with respect to the enforced specific national regulations. The numerical model simulations are to support the study of water flows and levels on both the river main course and its left side branch, which is to be endowed with the specific hydraulic structure (overflow weir, side intake and apron). The length of the river reach was 170 m, with 33 cross sections, used for building the hydrodynamic model. For the model simulation were 5 scenarios made for different high flow values, for medium monthly discharge and sanitary discharge. Following flow values were provided: Qav.yearly= 0.855 m3/s; Qsanitary= Q95%= 0.193 m3/s; Q2%= 100 m3/s; Q5%= 71 m3/s; Q10%= 47m3/s; Q70%= 0.238m3/s and Q80%= 0.225m3/s. A high waters typical curve was than artificially developed by the help of HEC-RAS v5.03 dedicated software. Due to the fact that around 85% of water flows mainly on the main channel, the results obtained showed that the hydraulic structure had no important or no influence on the main channel water flow.
