Abstract

The study presents the possibilities, procedures and financial burden of mitigation and elimination of the consequences of radiation events within emergency zones of nuclear power plants regarding local contaminated plant biomass of agricultural crops. The agricultural land of Jiho?esk? kraj (South Bohemian Region ? Czech Republic) was chosen as the model area where Temel?n, a two-block nuclear power, plant is operated. In this area, emergency response planning is divided into two parts: the on-site zone and external zone of emergency response planning. The study involved complex mapping and studying of emergency response planning zone with the radius of 13 km centred in the JETE (Temel?n Nuclear Power Plant) premises. Any nuclear power plant has its own emergency preparedness rules describing the rescue and protection procedures of persons and/or animals. This study provides a suitable and desirable completion of the rules by adding the care of the affected land. Further the study helps to ensure implementation of measures and limitations minimising the consequences of an accident of degree 3. The focus is on providing a complex summary of the possibilities of harvesting, centralising and then eliminating contaminated biomass affected by radiation due to an unexpected event in the surroundings of nuclear installations. Calculations on resource data with graphic and tabulated illustrations of their outputs are also included.
