GEOSPATIAL RESEARCH OF A DEGRADED AREA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SOLAR PANEL PARK KRASLAVA MUNICIPALITY IN LATVIA
Abstract
In previous studies, when conducting a geospatial analysis of 297 degraded territories in Latvia, it was found that 6.7% of them would be suitable for electricity production with renewable energy resources and approximate calculations of the possible electricity production potential were made. The task of the study was to conduct an in-depth study of the degraded territory found in the previous analysis in an area of 11.0 ha, taking into account the location of the territory in relation to the daily movement and angle of the sun, the optimal angle of solar radiation on the surface of solar panels, and terrain scanning data. Possible environmental protection and safety aspects for the improvement and maintenance of the territory were considered. aking these factors into account, the optimal distance between the rows of solar panels was calculated, the exact layout of the rows of solar panels was planned, the possible surface area of the solar panels was calculated. The usable area of the land unit for electricity production was specified and the possible electricity production potential was calculated. It was concluded that by conducting in-depth geospatial data analysis and spatial planning, the usable area for solar panel installations can be significantly refined. Compared to previously obtained data, the usable area increased by 23.2%, but the potential electricity potential decreased by 27.3%. The study confirmed that in-depth geospatial research of solar panel park construction sites, detailed planning and calculations significantly refine previously obtained data.
