Abstract

Within the core project called "Geomagnetism, a modern tool in space weather forecasting and rapid response to associated natural hazards for the protection of critical infrastructures and national air traffic security", we implemented a Web-GIS platform with ARCGIS Server, which can be viewed in an internet browser at: http://harti.igr.ro/masuratori_aeroporturi. The thematic layers in the application, at the level of the entire country, are the locations of magnetic declination measurements for all airports in Romania, the main rivers and relief. In addition to the permanent updating of the declination measurements on the site are included many things about physical laws with explanations and tutorials on the Earth's geomagnetic storms and the induced geomagnetic currents they generate. These can become dangerous for satellite communications, civil and military aviation, high power energy lines, oil and gas pipelines, which can affect people's daily lives. At the same time, the types of magnetometers and the infrastructure in geomagnetic observatories are presented, as well as the processing of measurements with various standardized algorithms, statistical-spectral processing and interpretation of results.
