Abstract

Choosing a suitable method for a given ore-body is very important for the economics, safety and the productivity of the mining work. Ore excavation cost, as economic factor, have not influence on preliminary selection of mining method. Mining-geological factors and mining-technical factors have higher ascendancy in this stage of selection. It is very difficult to insulate one of these factors as the most significant. Today, the selection of a mining method is a multi-criteria decision making process, with many factors in this process connected to each other. In this paper analytic hierarchy process (AHP) that is one of multiple criteria decision making, is used for selecting the optimal method with which to extract Reza-abad ball clay and bauxite mine. The results of this study show that gathering all existing information from the exploration stages and using AHP technique, the Cut \& Fill mining method is the suitable mining method for Reza-abad ball clay \& bauxite ore deposit.
