OPPORTUNITIES OF THE GPSS STUDIO FOR TRAINING OF STUDENTS IN HOTEL MANAGEMENT
Abstract
One of the most popular systems of simulation - GPSS World provides users (1) software tools to interact with the system in the process of simulation research and (2) software tools, realizing immediately the implementation of the model (including: syntax analyzer interpreter model, clock modeling, management of the list of events and more.). Until a few years ago the programs in the first group only automated a part of research itself, namely the creation of a text model and conduct experiments with it. In the absence of integrated tools, the researcher involved was fully satisfying in simulation requirements to increase its level of competence. These requirements are one of the obstacles to the proliferation of ideas, methods and means for them. The latest GPSS World extension developed by Elina Computer Company GPSS Studio software is one of the means to reduce training requirements and to the professionals dealing with them and the end user, using models created by him/her. The GPSS Studio is to automate many operations and actions of the investigator in the conduct of the entire cycle of imitation research. This allows us to use the GPSS Studio as a learning tool. The aim of the work is to review some opportunities of GPSS Studio for the creation and applying simulation models in the training of students in Hotel management. The proposed model of the Hotel Revenue Management System is presented by some aspects of the creation of a GPSS model, conducting simulations and analysis of reported simulation results. Here are some examples of using some of the new features of GPSS Studio in Modeling Hotel Revenue Management: automatic text alignment; contextual hints; the standard composite window for "monitoring" the models' work, automated creation of modeling reports, the concept of simulation research as a whole project, etc.
