ANALYSIS OF A TANK USED FOR THE PURPOSES OF ECOLOGICAL PURIFICATION OF WATER
Abstract
Sustainability of energy sources and environmental protection play an increasingly important role in civil engineering design. Due to global warming, people are well aware of the importance of protecting nature, as extreme weather events are occurring more frequently. The lack of water becomes a serious problem in still larger and larger areas all over the world. For this reason, drinking and rain water reservoirs as well as wastewater treatment plants have been presently popular and frequently used structures. Fr built-up areas, tanks of square or rectangular shape (rectangular tanks) are more suitable and therefore often used. Unlike cylindrical tanks, they offer a more efficient use of the available space. This article deals with a static design of a rectangular tank designed for wastewater treatment. The design of the sedimentation tank must strictly follow the requirements for the advisable structural properties and material used. This is important to prevent damage to the integrity and load carrying capacity of the tank, but also to prevent any leakage of its contents. The dynamic analysis of the selected tank has been performed, taking into account the interaction of the structure and fluid (FSI - Fluid-structure-interaction). The tank is modeled and analysed using the ANSYS Academic software. From the results obtained, we are interested in the first mode shapes of the tank and their natural frequencies.
