Abstract

In spite of mining is a prerequisite for the economic development of any country, considering their harmful impact on the Environment, open pit mining is the most dangerous for the ecosystem, especially when ecological issues are neglected. Because of the production, a large number of toxic elements are released, which actively accumulate in the soil. The quality of pollution and distribution of heavy metals in the Brown Forest, Raw Humus Calcareous, Mountain Chernozems, Cinnamonic, Grey Cinnamonic and Alluvial Calcareous soils in Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia has been studied. The source of pollution is the polymetallic plant, which extracts gold and copper by an open pit mining method. Soil samples were analyzed using ICP-MC. In some villages, a high content of heavy metals has been fixed. A formula for the relative distribution has been developed, based on which a comparative analysis of the quantitative indicators of the elements has been carried out. The results obtained allowed us to estimate the degree of contamination of the studied soils. The most actively negative impact on soil properties, their composition and soil-forming processes have primarily copper and zinc. It is established that in the soil, the relative distribution of metals from the surface in depth differs, which is determined by different geographic conditions.
