GAS MIGRATION AND POSSIBLE CHANGES IN CEMENT RECIPE GIVEN THE DIFFERENT TREATMENTS OF THE WELL

Abstract

Last century was an apogee of drilling operations in all around the world. Petroleum industry has managed to achieved large progress in technology which contribute to minimize costs and time of drilling and completion operations but above all this, to increase production of oil and gas from the reservoirs. Rapid development also bring with itself potential problems with integration of the well during production processes and workovers. Changes in temperature conditions connected with treatments of the well result in tension on the connection between cement sheath and steel casing caused by different temperature expansion of those materials. This process leads to breaking connection between those materials and as a result, to create possible channels for migration of gas. In this article will be presented divagations connected with changes in possible breaking in cement ? casing connection related to temperature expansion during life of the well. Those speculations will be prelude to possible changes in cement slurry recipes and modifications in the rheological and mechanical properties.
