RESEARCH ACTIVITIES REGARDING ENERGETIC AND FUNCTIONAL ADVANTAGES OF HYDRAULIC TRANSMISSIONS
Abstract
This paper highlights several aspects regarding energetic and functional advantages of hydraulic transmissions based on adjustable volumetric machines, located in their primary and secondary sectors. To this end, numerical simulations were performed upon hypothetic hydraulic transmissions of primary or secondary adjustment, as well as numerical simulations and experimental research on MOOG radial piston pump type RKP-D. This servo pump, which can operate either in closed loop of flow or in closed loop of pressure, is appropriate for use in hydraulic transmissions of primary, secondary or mixed adjustment. The main method to increase energy efficiency of hydraulic transmissions (HT) is based on automatic adjustment of capacity of volumetric machines located in their secondary sector (motors) or/and of volumetric machines located in their primary sector (pumps). HT of primary adjustment are based on volumetric servo pumps that automatically adjust their capacity so that they supply constant flow to volumetric motors of constant capacity. HT of secondary adjustment are based on the adjustment of capacity of volumetric servo motors that are supplied at constant pressure. HT of mixed adjustment are based on the adjustment of capacity of volumetric machines located both in primary and secondary sectors (pumps and motors). For a certain HT that comprises adjustable volumetric machines with incorporated electronics (for instance MOOG servo pumps) it is necessary to know and set the parameters of the capacity adjustment laws depending on the operation cyclogram of the system.
