COGENERATION SYSTEM OF ENERGY WITH GAS TURBINE AND THERMAL ENGINE
Abstract
Cogeneration equipment is generally classified according to the power source for the production of energy and the size of the electrical power. Low power cogeneration refers to those with powers up to 1 MWe, and those of medium power reach 25 ? 40 MWe. The overall efficiency of primary fuel use, under favorable conditions, can exceed 90%. Currently there are different solutions for low / medium power cogeneration, whose technologies are well developed. For a properly designed low power cogeneration the investment made can be recovered within a reasonable period. The method of comparing the projects we recommend is that of the total costs during the operating life. If on the cost of heat produced in low / medium power cogeneration there is no doubt that it is competitive, it should be known that the specific investment and operating costs are higher than in high power cogeneration. Therefore, it is very important to achieve an increase in the feasibility of the projects by selling electricity. The scope of low / medium power cogeneration covers the needs of electricity and thermal energy from individual buildings to residential neighborhoods, small cities. The type of cogeneration for low / medium power is chosen according to several factors, among which the most important are: the rated electric power required; the structure of the maximum and annual energy demand (the ratio between the demand for electricity and thermal energy); the type of fuel available; the necessary parameters for the consumer; the sizing and operating conditions envisaged for the chosen installations.
