Abstract

Biomass belongs among renewable energy sources and its representation in national energy strategies is increasing due to the limited supplies of fossil fuels. One of the options for substitution of fossil fuels is short rotation cropping systems for woody biomass as a method of reclamation and revitalization of anthropogenic soil profiles during restoration activities in the areas after brown coal mining. The scope of the project "Methodology of sustainable agricultural management in anthropogenic damaged landscape" is to obtain a practical usable knowledge for efficient agricultural production in an environmentally and economically sustainable land management system. The article briefly summarizes the possibilities of acquiring of biomass in the Most Basin, main pedological parameters of biomass and practical experience with application of this raw material. Properties of the new anthropogenic soil profiles are described in the conclusion of this paper. A part of the issue of this work was carried out under supported by the project QJ1520307 titled ?Methodology of sustainable agricultural management in anthropogenic damaged landscape?. This project has been funded with financial support from the state budget through the program KUS by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.
