DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTEGRATED CONCEPT-TECHNOLOGY OF DIOPSIDE PROCESSING
Abstract
This work is a logical conclusion and generalization of results of two-year researchoriented to design the integrated technology of processing of diopside-containing ores towin the scandium compounds and get the wide spectrum of large-capacity products. Thetraditional technology of sulfuric uncovering of mineral raw materials is applied withinthe scope of this work. The technology of scandium compounds extraction with the useof impregnators, which are based on the macroporous carbons soaked with diethylhexylphosphoric acid/ tributyl phosphate mixture, is offered as an alternative to the traditionalliquid extraction. The high capacity of impregnators in comparison with the commercialsolid extraction agents is determined. Moreover, the simplicity and low costs ofproduction additionally increase the perspective of the offered method. The technologyof scandium compounds re-extraction with the use of binary mixture of ammoniumsulphate and fluoride with the efficiency of more than 80% is proposed. The sulfuricsolutions depleted in titanium and scandium are subject to the neutralization with theuse of magnesium oxide or magnesium-containing residues (brucite) that allows toobtain the required large-capacity magnesium sulphate (fertilizer). The neutralizationprocesses residua may be used as the iron ore raw materials or red pigment for buildingstructures.
