THE ESTIMATION OF FE AND P IN LOW GRADE STOCKPILE OF CHOGHART IRON MINE OF IRAN
Abstract
The estimation of important parameters at Choghart mine stockpile is accomplished by sampling specific parameters that allow detection of useful parts of the Low Grade stockpile. Huge amount of low grade broken rocks near the open pit can causes some environmental problem. Therefore, determination of dump parameters became important in this mine. In this research the estimation of Fe and P was fulfilled in low grade stockpile of Choghart. The Estimation of these two parameters (Fe \& P) can be used for mapping the error distributions and then prediction of specific areas for more sampling. This paper outlines a Geostatistics method to perform in order to have a data set consistent with the Geostatistical model to be used in the estimation of unknown values. This estimate consist of following steps: preparing database, separating statistical homogenous region, trend analysis, variography and estimation via ordinary Kriging method. Identifying the variogram modeling revealed a high nugget effect. To reduce the nugget effect, the stockpile is divided into three homogenous zones. Geostatistical estimation technique showed that the amount of reserve in this stockpile is equal to 1.4 million tons at 40\% of Fe and 0.52\% P.
