The aim of this research is to identify and verify the most effective methods of communicative competence at students of non-linguistic faculties. The article describes the main characteristics of communicative competence, defines methods of teaching a foreign language developing communicative professional competence effectively. As experience shows, one of the most effective methods of communicative competence development at students? learning is the use of situational tasks and role-play games. The project method is also one of the advantages of increasing motivation of students, because they participate with their projects in Olympiads, scientific and practical conferences. The research aims at the development of effective, cognitive and behavioral components of communicative competence. The received knowledge and professionally generated competences of the graduate during education should provide him/her a possibility to continue lifelong education in the professional sphere. Thus, considering a foreign language as a means of development of professional orientation of the future specialist, we believe that the study of professional language material establishes a two-way link between the student's desire to acquire specialized knowledge and success of language proficiency. Therefore, we can say that foreign language is an effective means of professional and social orientation at non-linguistic university.
